Roller Blind fabric widths: Plus + and Minus - sizes

Minus -

  • Fig (1) Pin End the fabric is inset 1cm from the edge of roller blind to allow for brackets.
  • Fig (2) Controller end fabric is inset 2.5cm from the edge of roller blind to allow for bracket and controller.
  • If you are measuring for a Roller blind for a Kitchen or Bathroom that is half tiled, as long as the step is no more than 1cm each side you do not need to make allowances for the tiles, if the step is more than 1cm you will need to reduce the width to allow for the fabric to travel past the tiles. As a guide the fabric width is reduced by 2.8 cm from the width given. Just remember that if you order as Recess then we deduct 1cm from width, if ordered as Exact the Roller blind will be made to your exact dimensions, in all cases will include the brackets at ends. Take that into consideration when calculating the fabric width. Allow a little extra for clearance.

Plus +

If you need a certain fabric width to give glass coverage you may need to add the 2.8cm to your overall blind size. But remember you must have sufficient space to fit the blind as you would have increased the width by 2.8cm. This would be useful if you are fitting a Roller Blind on a backdoor keeping the fabric behind the door handle when the blind is drawn down but still giving you maximum glass coverage.

Fabrics
Polyester
Polyester fabrics do not stretch and have a high resistance to abrasion.
The fibre does not absorb moisture readily.

Stitchbond
Stitchbonds are non-woven, the warp and weft are simply laid on each other and bonded and secured with a running stitch.

Jacquard
Jacquards are constructed on special looms creating intricate woven fabrics allowing for the option of combining different coloured yarns.
Generally more expensive than simple woven fabrics.
