Inside mount (recess)

  1. Measure the width in the three places - top, middle and bottom. Make a note of the smallest measurement for your order.
  2. Measure the drop in three places - left, middle and right. Make a note of the smallest measurement for your order.
  3. Remember to allow for any obstructions.
  4. Please note that you will lose a small amount of fabric from each end of a roller blind - 1cm off the pin end and 1.8cm off the controller end, to allow for operation. Please see below Fig (1) and Fig (2).
  5. When you enter your measurements on your order, mark them as recess and we will make the necessary deductions for your blind to fit in the recess. Please note the deduction is 0.5cm for roller blinds and 1cm for all other blinds.

Ordered as RECESS (INSIDE MOUNT) we deduct 10mm from the width given, and this will include brackets at ends, for blinds with end fixings.

With the exception of vertical blinds, we deduct 10mm from the width, and drop given (note drop +/- 4mm tolerance), and will include brackets.

Please note: For roller blinds only, ordered as (recess): we deduct 0.5cm from the width, with brackets included within that width. Fabric lost to allow for brackets and controler is 3.6cm (See Fig 1 & 2 below)
If you require a certain fabric width/ cloth size, please add 3.6cm to the width. This will compensate for the fabric lost due to brackets.

But remember you are making the blind bigger: check it will still fit the position it is intended for.

Outside mount (exact)

  • Measure the exact width and height you want for your blind and make a note of your measurements. Image title Outside recess.
  • Allow a minimum of 4cm above your window for brackets, so add 4cm to your total drop to allow for a fixing above your window (see diagram).
  • Add a minimum of 4cm to the sides of your window for additional privacy and to block more light. Be aware of any obstructions, such as doors opening onto the wall next to the blind.
  • Enter exact on your order and we will manufacture the blind to your precise measurements.
  • Ordered as BLIND SIZE (EXACT), then the blind is made to your exact width and drop given. This will include brackets at the ends, for blinds with end fixings. With the exception of vertical blinds, whitch will be made to your exact width. The drop will be less 1cm and will include brackets.

Please note: For roller blinds only, ordered as (exact): the blind is made to width provided with brackets included within that width. Fabric lost to allow for brackets and controler 3.6cm (See Fig 1 & 2 below)
If you require a certain fabric width/cloth size please add 3.6cm to the width. This will compensate for the fabric lost due to brackets.
But remember you are making the blind bigger: check it will still fit the position it is intended for.

NOTE: Child safety loose cords and looped cords.
Installation height not known.
“Please advise us immediately after placing your order quoting your order number via email, if your blind headrail is to be installed in excess of 2.5 metres from the floor. This is essential so that control lengths can be adjusted, otherwise blinds will be supplied with controls compliant with EN 13120 so will be supplied up to a maximum of 1 metre long.”
*If drop is greater than 2.5m then cord and chain length must be less than or equal to drop of blind minus 1.5m.

Multiple blind measuring

  • For multiple blinds to sit side by side allow 5mm clearance both ends of each blind. If you order as exact, we will manufacture blinds to your exact size.
  • Standard objects that may interfere with the blind operation are: dado rails, phone points, handles and half-tiled walls.
  • Patio doors skirting will not affect a vertical blind. For all other types of blinds, you will need to take the width at floor level i.e. the skirting width.

Roller blind fabric widths cloth size:

  • See note below for roller blinds and fabric widths if you have half-tiled walls.
  • Fig (1) Pin End the fabric is inset 1cm from the edge of roller blind to allow for brackets.
  • Fig (2) Controller end fabric is inset 1.8cm from the edge of roller blind to allow for bracket and controller.
  • If you are measuring for a roller blind for a kitchen or bathroom that is half tiled, as long as the step is no more that 1cm each side you do not need to make allowances for the tiles. If the step is more than 1cm you will need to reduce the width to allow for the fabric to travel past the tiles. As a guide, the fabric width is reduced by 3.6 cm from the width given. Remember that if you order as recess then we deduct 0.5cm from width. If ordered as exact the roller blind will be made to your exact dimensions. Take that into consideration when calculating the fabric width. Allow a little extra for clearance.
  • Note all other blinds you will need to measure the narrowest width so measure between the tiles.

Increase cloth width:
If you need a certain fabric width to give glass coverage you will need to add to the width the fabric lost due to brackets, this will depend on the brackets supplied governed by the total blind width, But remember you must have sufficient space to fit the blind as you would have increased the width by 3.6cm for blinds under 2m. This would be useful if you are fitting a roller blind on a backdoor, keeping the fabric behind the door handle when the blind is drawn down but still giving you maximum glass coverage.

Fabric lost for brackets and controller.

Up to 2m         Barrel diameter is 32mm: add 3.6cm for brackets and controller.
2mt to 3.0m    Barrel diameter is 40mm: add 4.0cm for brackets and controller.

2mt to 3.0m    Barrel diameter is 45mm: add 3.6cm for brackets and controller.

This information is provided to help you allow for a certain fabric width required. If the blind is going inside a recess then please insure you have the extra space to fit the blind.
